Although four hundred years have passed since its foundation, Lima, known as the “City of the Kings”, has managed to hold onto its traditions, fashion and religious celebrations from Pre-Inca and Inca times.

Walking through the streets and squares of the historic centre of Lima is like traveling to the past. Discover Lima’s Colonial Architecture, for which it was declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

In almost all of Lima’s neighborhoods, you can enjoy an exiting nightlife with many possibilities to go out: casinos, discos, bars, pubs, folkloric parties and restaurants where you can enjoy and dance to the local music.

Lima is located in the central coast of the country, bordering the Pacific Ocean, with 7 million inhabitants you can enjoy beautiful beaches, landscapes, parks, the central market, and the Chinese neighborhood, which are all places you must visit. You can also contemplate the architecture, enjoy the Pacific waves while surfing, savor the world famous Peruvian cooking and the warm people, so… ¡Ven a Lima!

I definitely recommend spending time at ECELA in Peru. As a general matter, Peruvians speak good Spanish, so it’s a good place to learn. In addition, the school in Miraflores is very good. The teachers and staff are not only good at their jobs, they are also genuinely nice (and fun) people – I consider my teacher, the director and the activities director friends now (and I think everyone in the school had a similar experience). I spent time at ECELA in Santiago, Buenos Aires and Lima, and I am very glad I did the Lima portion. Obviously, each place is different culturally. Miraflores is one of the most secure and modern neighborhoods in Lima, with a wide variety of restaurants, hotels, discos, parks, modern shopping centers, beaches and tourist places to visit. The perfect place for a Spanish Experience!

The Spanish language school is an endeavor to enable you to integrate with the Spanish speaking world. The language is taught to you the way it is to be spoken, read and loved!

Throughout the week you can walk around the different neighborhoods in Lima, visit a wide variety of museums and cultural highlights, and enjoy the Latin nightlife, beautiful beaches, landscapes and good food and drinks.

During the weekends you can go north or south and find different options. To the north you can do some trekking, discover lakes and the other marvelous natural beauties and get to know the  Chancay and Chimu cultures.  To the northeast, you can enjoy hot springs and spectacular Andean landscapes.  To the south, in Canete y Lunahuna, you can practice different adventure sports such as canoeing, mountain biking, paragliding and trekking, as well as a variety of beaches, some of them are ideal surfing spots.

Cuzco and Machu Picchu are places you shouldn’t miss. During the trip you will see astonishing landscapes. Cuzco is the historical heart of the Inca culture.
Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, also known as the “lost city of the Incas” is by far the most well known and spectacular archeological site on the continent. Adventure lovers may get to Machu Picchu through the famous Inca trail, where they can find a variety of flora and fauna.

Spanish and Volunter
In cooperation with different social institutions and non-profit organizations we offer various voluntary work projects in Peru. Usually, you work directly with the relevant people and are responsible for the care of ill and homeless children, handicapped or the elder.
Duration of volunteer You choose the duration of your volunteer completely according to your schedule and your wishes (1 - 6 months). In order to have sufficient time to become familiar with the country and the people and to adjust to the language and to your volunteer position you should commit to at least one month.

Spanish & Surf
Learn Spanish in Lima and you will be very close to great beaches with large waves for surfing.
Combine your Spanish course with surf lessons.
Two 3-hour classes per week include instructor, surf board, and wetsuit.
