University students may study at our Buenos Aires, Lima, Bariloche and/or Santiago schools and receive university credit for studying abroad. ECELA credit courses are certified by a nationally accredited universities and Brookhaven College in the USA. In Argentina and in Chile we are affiliated with Universidad Bolivariana and Universidad de Viña del Mar. Courses are at ECELA and comply with the generally accepted standard of 15 contact hours (50 minutes/hour) of class time per credit hour.

Students interested in courses for credit can study throughout the year according to ECELA’s frequent start dates.  Standard group language courses may be taken on the normal schedule and specialized courses such as literature or culture may be taken as private courses. Classes are intensive, consisting of 20 contact hours per week with a maximum of six students per class.  Every four weeks students complete one more level of proficiency.

Credit Approval and Certification
You should check with an advisor at your institution concerning whether or not additional information (course syllabus, description, etc.) is required to guarantee credit acceptance.  We will send such information upon request.
Upon program completion you will receive an official transcript endorsed by ECELA and Universidad Bolivariana.

Accreditation Process steps:
1. Visit your university Spanish department for study abroad credit requirements.
2. We will mail you a set of documents to pre-approve your studies.
3. Study Spanish abroad at our school(s).
4. Submit transcripts to your university for credit.

**Your transcript will be given in local grading standards (scale of 0.0 – 100.0). 
We will supply an explanation of the corresponding North American grades.  
1 course (4 weeks/ 80 hours) = 3 credits
