SPANISH COURSE

Our Spanish language programs are designed to help you meet your Spanish goals in a short period of time. With immersion programs, students are normally able to reach in a few months the same level they would if studying for years in high school or college.

Our Spanish classes focus on Spanish conversation, grammar, reading and writing.

Classes Types

Intensive Group (20 hours per week)
Our group classes have a maximum of 7 students to ensure personalized instruction.
There are 12 Spanish levels, which are broken down into two-week sessions. They give students the opportunity to cover a multitude of Spanish language components, focusing on conversation and grammar.

Schedule:
- Start dates: every Monday, year round
- Class time sessions are in the morning (9am-1pm) and in the afternoon (2pm-6pm).

Intensive Private (10-20 hours per week)
Some students choose to take private lessons with a professor for more individualized attention. Private classes are also an excellent idea for professionals who seek a specialized vocabulary for specific situations. Individual (one-on-one) courses can begin any Monday.

Super Intensive (group + private 25-30 hours per week)
Those students interested in a more intensive program have the option to take both group (20 hours) and private (5 -10 hours) of classes. You may also take this course of study temporarily if you are having trouble with a certain concept and desire additional assistance.

Tutorial Sessions
ECELA provides extra language assistance to students to help them work on problem areas.
Every day a teacher is available to assist students in reviewing specific topics they may be struggling with.
They can also provide reading suggestions, address questions related to homework, etc.
This is a valuable service, not comparable to private instruction but definitely beneficial to all students.

Our Spanish Levels

Beginner levels: (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B) pronunciation, identifying people and things, present tense, family members,"ser" and "estar",interrogative pronouns, indefinite/definite articles, greetings, demonstrative adjectives, present progressive tense, "hay" and "tener", days and months, possessive adjectives. Reflexive verbs and pronouns, sports and activities, future informal ("ir"+), preferences and desires, "nunca"/"siempre", imperative tense, ordinal numbers, "tener que ", "haber", "deber", prepositions
of time and place, imperfect tense.

Intermediate levels: (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B) relative pronouns, interrogative pronouns, "para" and "por", past perfect irregulares, future imperfect, conditional tense, present subjunctive, uses of subjunctive verbs, "seguir" and "quedar", preterite perfect "estar"+ gerund, irregular subjunctive verbs. preterit perfect subjunctive, passive voice, use of "se", verbs with preposition, adverbial expressions,diminutives and augmentatives, idiomatic expressions, preterit imperfect subjunctive, prepositional phrases, synonyms and antonyms.

Advanced and Superior levels: (A, B, Superior) Continuation of speech practice, perfecting spoken grammar, analysis of literature and composition. Rotation of conversation themes.

Electives: Spanish composition, literature, and culture.

Special Interest: (medical, business, law-specific Spanish)
For a particular area of interest or concern, on Special Interest Courses.

Spanish-Medical Course Structure
This program we have developed for medical professionals combines the regular Spanish immersion program with medical-specific Spanish and cultural training. Morning group classes never have more than seven students, with experienced and college-educated Spanish teachers. After your morning classes, you will be engaging in a wide variety of medical-oriented activities in the afternoon.
